Seattle, Washington
Seattle Police Departments have had budget cuts, resulting in not being able to solve sexual assault crimes, and not having enough cops to do so on top of that. The city decided to defund the police, and this results in more people getting away with violent crimes. They only have four detectives on the Sexual Assault cases; almost all dedicated to child abuse cases. “The lack of manpower even means people reporting sex assaults are sometimes routed to an automated telephone hotline designed to handle non-urgent crimes such as stolen checks.” This needs to change. Therefore, they will soon receive funds.
